Don't know why I'm just now seeing this...Nah, it wasn't too hot. Ha. Horrid. No, I didn't sink any money into the Kansas tourist economy by buying the gas station shirt. :)
Try going to Kansas in late April or early May, before the temperatures reach 100 degrees, and try getting off the freeways and actually drive through the Flint Hills region. You might actually enjoy it then...:) Kansas is beautiful if you know where and when to go...and if you like nature. But, you'll never see the real Kansas off I-70.
I would love to see the pretty parts of Kansas. They must exist because I've seen them on postcards... :) I guess so far Kansas has only been the means to an end for me- a way to get from here to there- so going off I-70 doesn't make much sense. Maybe one day...thanks for the tip.
